Methodology
LatticeLog is a structural-research publication. Its aim is not to forecast prices or offer investment advice, but to map how large systems — markets, energy, infrastructure, climate, and geopolitics — interact and evolve over long time horizons. This page sets out how that research is produced, the sources it draws on, and the role that software and AI tools play in the process.
Research approach
The work is grounded in systems thinking and interdisciplinary analysis. Rather than treating markets, policy, and physical infrastructure as separate subjects, the publication studies the linkages between them — how a change in one domain propagates into others, and how structural forces accumulate slowly before producing non-linear shifts. Analysis favours probabilistic reasoning over deterministic prediction, and long-duration cycles over short-term signals.
Where quantitative claims are made, they are built from primary and reputable secondary sources: official statistics, regulatory filings, technical standards, peer-reviewed literature, and data published by government agencies, system operators, and established industry bodies. Sources are cited where practical so that readers can verify and extend the analysis themselves.
Sources and data
Charts and figures are constructed from publicly available datasets and are intended to illustrate structure and direction rather than to serve as precise operational values. Historical dates, policy references, and technical details are checked against original documentation wherever possible. Any errors that remain are the author’s own, and corrections are welcome.
Use of AI tools
In the interest of transparency, LatticeLog discloses that it uses artificial-intelligence tools — principally Anthropic’s Claude — as part of its research and production workflow. AI is treated as an assistant to the author, not as a substitute for editorial judgement or subject-matter expertise.
In practice, AI tools are used to:
- Draft, restructure, and refine prose for clarity and readability;
- Summarise and cross-check background material while the underlying sources are reviewed directly;
- Explore alternative framings, surface counter-arguments, and stress-test the logic of an analysis;
- Assist with formatting, data preparation, and the construction of charts and diagrams.
AI tools are not used to fabricate data, invent sources, or generate conclusions that the author has not reviewed. Every factual claim, figure, and interpretation published under LatticeLog is checked and edited by a human before release, and the analytical judgements — what matters, what it means, and how confident one should be — remain the responsibility of the author.
Large language models can produce plausible-sounding but incorrect statements. This is precisely why AI output is treated as a first draft to be verified rather than a source of truth. Readers should nonetheless apply their own judgement, consult primary sources, and treat all analysis on this site as informational commentary rather than professional, financial, or investment advice.
